Little Steps Socks Note

Little Steps Socks Note

Sock Notes -  Little Steps Socks

I’ve started knitting a series of small sock samples to explore how different yarn combinations behave in simple stranded colourwork.

For this first comparison, I worked with two very different pairings.

Wildwood & Burnt Orange

This pairing combines a softly speckled yarn with a warm semi-solid. The speckles sit gently across the fabric, adding interest without overwhelming the pattern.

Fairy Fizz & Fuchsia

A much brighter pairing, with stronger contrast and more playful colour.
It’s a good reminder that even bold combinations can become very wearable once worked up.

The method I used for this sock sample
Cast on 64 stitches
2x2 rib with a small twist detail - Knit into the back of the 2nd stitch on the left  needle then knit into the front of the first stitch and pull both off together. Simple stranded colourwork from the chart below
Short row heel
Wedge toe
