My Knitting and Crochet Journey
Welcome to My Journey into Knitting with Hand Dyed Yarn
Hi, my name is Deborah. I am an avid knitter who turned my passion for yarn into a hand-dyed yarn business five years ago. I started by selling my yarn on Etsy and later launched my own website.
My grandmother taught me to knit and crochet when I was very young. I remember looking into her needle drawer and asking about the needles with two tips. She explained that those were for knitting socks. That was the end of my curiosity for a while. As the years went by, I stopped knitting and got on with life.
Rediscovering Knitting
Many years later, I suddenly thought about knitting again. I mentioned to my husband that I wanted to start with making a teacosy, one of the projects my grandmother had taught me. A few days later, my husband surprised me with a bag filled with needles, a pattern, and yarn to make a teacosy. It was such a sweet gesture, and that’s where my journey began.
I stumbled upon a sock tutorial on YouTube and discovered that hand-dyed yarns were perfect for making socks. After much research and trial and error, I began dyeing yarn to sell. This sparked my addiction to sock knitting.
The Joy of Sock Knitting and Accessories
Sock knitting is not just a hobby; it is a passion. Each pair of socks tells a story. From the choice of yarn to the techniques used, every step is a journey. I love experimenting with different patterns and colours. The creativity involved in sock knitting and small accessories is endless.
I have learned so much along the way. New techniques, stitches and methods have transformed my knitting experience. Whether I am knitting socks or cosy accessories, each project brings new challenges and rewards. I enjoy sharing these experiences with fellow knitters and those who are just starting.
Techniques and Tips
In this blog, I will share my knitting adventures and the techniques I have discovered. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced knitter, there will be something here for everyone.
Choosing the Right Yarn: Selecting the right yarn is crucial. Hand-dyed yarns offer unique colours and textures that can elevate your knitting.Â
Understanding Patterns: Patterns can be daunting at first. Start with simple designs and gradually move to more complex ones. Don’t hesitate to modify patterns to suit your style.
Community and Support
The knitting community is incredibly supportive. I encourage you to connect with other knitters, whether online or in person. Sharing your progress and learning from others can enhance your experience.
I am excited to document my journey and share it with you. This blog will serve as a diary of my knitting adventures. I hope to inspire you to pick up your needles and join me in this wonderful craft.
